SFR Tooling manufactures breaker plates for all sizes of extruders and temperature applications. Our breaker plates are made from 17-4 PH stainless steel and engineered to immediately increase throughput, prevent leakage, maintain screen packs, and eliminate dead spots. In addition to standard configurations, SFR Tooling can partner with you to develop custom extrusion breaker plates.

Standard Hole Breaker Plates

Standard Breaker Plates

SFR Tooling uses a 5/32" standard hole pattern. The holes are drilled straight through and fully chamfered (no flats) on the downstream side. A tool pry recess can be added by request at no charge.

Mixing Inverter Breaker Plates

Improve the quality of your plastics and reduce scrap by using an inverter.

Melt fracture at the barrel wall causes discolored streaking or "pinking" of the outermost extrudate layer. With a standard breaker plate, this degraded material passes straight through and remains at the surface. Pinking is reduced or eliminated with an inverter by passing the outermost layer of material inward to be hidden, delivering clean material from the inner flow to the surface.

This special mixing plate has been production tested in all types of extrusion -- blown film, sheet, pipe, wire, and profile -- with great success. Major compound suppliers recommend its use under suggested guidelines for troubleshooting procedures.

Slotted breaker plates have an average open area of 49-53%, providing a better outlet for specific materials and profiles.

The unique pattern provides for layering the material that standard holes can't offer. The circular pattern minimizes breaker parting lines on an extrusion, layer by layer, for a smooth, defect-free finish. Adding a 145-degree slot to the outer row delivers the material line-free to the most critical surface, increasing cosmetic appearance on some of the most demanding extrusions.

We can quote variations such as 2-piece units, special hole sizes and patterns, and domed irregular shapes and sizes upon request. We make our units exactly as specified and deliver them on time to assure your complete satisfaction. We also have the ability to machine alternate metals.
